New portrait, and work in progress.

This is "Sara". She's my first attempt at a portrait in a couple of months. It was a rough start but I think it turned out well. After not painting at all for about 3 weeks (due to the lack of a studio over Christmas break), and spending the next month or so doing abstract work, getting back into the swing of a more representational painting style proved itself difficult.

This is a work in progress. bad picture, but you get the idea.
I especially like the plane in this one and the fact that it's gold. I think I'll title this one "John Travolta". I guess you'd have to watch a lot of VH1 to get the joke. I still have some work left to do on it but it's coming along.

Sponsorships

I was thinking today on my way home today about how athletes get sponsored by companies and get free stuff. Well I think the same should go for artists. It would be awesome if, say, Gamblin wanted to sponsor me and give me free paint and medium and all sorts of free stuff that I could use. And then Home Depot could sponsor me and give me free chip brushes and wood and canvas drop cloths. Then I could just mention their company in anything that gets published about me (hopefully someday) and say that Gamblin has the best paint, and it's all I use, and Home Depot has quality products as well (which is debatable).

So yeah. That's my idea. So if anyone has connections and wants to get me free stuff....the offer's on the table. Just throwing that out there.

New blog, new artwork.

Welcome to this newly created blog of mine. I'll be posting news, experiences, work, and other such things that relate to my so anyone that cares can find out what's been going on, what new stuff I've been doing, things that I'm working on, show dates, etc. With that said, here are a few pieces that I have finished this past month that I am pretty pleased with.
Graphite, charcoal, oil, and gesso on paper. 42 x 60 in.

oil on canvas, 3 x 6 ft.

Oil on canvas, 6 x 8 ft.

The last painting is the first of a new series I'm diving into isolating masses in negative space. So that's kind of the direction i'm going in right now. I've been working large scale on unstretched canvas, and hanging them from grommets.
